Gecko Journey - My life with 80+ species of geckos

The guest speaker at our March general meeting will be Julie Bergman. Julie is the president and lifetime member of the Global Gecko Association (GGA), and is a member of the Northern California Herpetological Society (NCHS). She has authored a number of books and articles for major herp magazines, and has even been featured on local television programs on Good Day Sacramento on KCRA Channel 3 News, and California Heartland on PBS.

Ms. Bergman is a very successful gecko breeder, and is the owner of The Gecko Ranch in Woodland, CA.   Gecko Ranch geckos have found homes at several zoos, including the Dallas-Fort Worth Zoo, the New York Hall of Science, and the Palm Springs Living Desert Museum. One of Julie's favorite geckos are the bright green giant day geckos, Phelsuma madagascariensis grandis. At our meeting Julie will discuss breeding and husbandry of geckos, and how she got to where she is.

At our meetings we often have speakers on subjects such as conservation, care and medical treatment, captive breeding, field studies, as well as many other interesting areas of herpetology. We also have workshops where people can bring their pets, relate their many experiences, and share their knowledge.

In addition, BAARS organizes and participates in a number of live shows, exhibits, and presentations. Our members have a wide variety of herps which can be seen and usually handled at our meetings and events.
